Howard A. Stephens, 84, of Decatur, IL passed away on Monday (May 9, 2011) at Imboden Creek Living Center.
A service to celebrate Howard’s life will be 2:00 p.m. Friday (May 13, 2011) at Dawson & Wikoff Funeral Home, Blue Mound. Visitation will be one hour prior to services on Friday. Burial will be in Macon County Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be directed to the F.F.A. Messages on condolence may be sent to the family at www.dawson-wikoff.com.
Mr. Stephens was born on July 2, 1926 in Bernie, MO, the son of Joseph and Addie (Bowles) Stephens. Howard was a farmer’s assistant, custodian with the Blue Mound School District and the Holiday Inn, and worked for the Blue Mound Township. He was a U.S. Army veteran serving during WWII. He enjoyed mowing grass and gardening. Howard married Alma R. King on August 22, 1944. She preceded him in death on January 3, 2005.
Surviving are his children: Carol Clennon of Decatur, IL, Howard L. Stephens of Bradley, IL; grandchildren: Tracy (Dane) Bragg of Buffalo Grove, IL, Lucas (Shannon) Clennon of Moweaqua, IL, Wm. B. (Veronica) Clennon of Murphysboro, IL; great grandson: Wade Bragg of Buffalo Grove, IL.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife of sixty years: Alma R. Stephens, son: Gary Stephens, four brothers and three sisters.
The family would like to thank Dr. McCormack and staff as well as the staff at Imboden Creek Living Center for the care Howard received during his stay.
